The NFL is one big injury report sometimes, and often times, it’s just a bit depressing.

The Minnesota Vikings lost one of the best players in the league for four weeks, as they announced Tuesday that wide receiver Justin Jefferson will be placed on injured reserve after suffering a strained right hamstring in the Vikings’ latest loss, 27-20, on Sunday at home to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jefferson – the league’s offensive player of the year last season – will go on injured reserve today, and if that happens, the earliest he could be activated would be against New Orleans in week 10.

“We’re going to have to medically make a good decision and help almost protect him from himself a little bit in a way where we’ve got to take care of him and get him back to 100 percent,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell told the media Tuesday.

So far this season, Jefferson has 36 catches for 571 yards and three touchdowns. This will be the first time he’s missed a game since his career began, really, in week three of the 2020 season, his rookie season.

The Vikings are set to play at Chicago on Sunday at noon, Central time – both NFC North teams are 1-4.
