Ankle, schmankle.
ESPN is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars will start quarterback Trevor Lawrence on Sunday at Cleveland if, after going through warmups before the game at noon Central time, he’s deemed able to do so (Sources – Jaguars planning for Trevor Lawrence to start vs. Browns).
Lawrence was injured Monday night at home in a loss to Cincinnati. The pressure is there – the Jaguars are leading the AFC South with an 8-4 record, but the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts are each 7-5 and just a game back.
Lawrence was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, and those normally don’t heal in six days. He’s listed as questionable. Jacksonville’s backup is former San Francisco 49er C.J. Beathard and the Jags also have brought on Nathan Rourke from the practice squad.
And the Jaguars will be facing a Cleveland team that boasts one of the league’s best pass rushers in Myles Garrett – and the Browns are 7-5 and in a division race of their own, chasing the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North, and if not that, a wild card spot in the AFC.
