Maybe the slogan for the Big 12 in the 2023 season should be, “The Big 12: We Can’t Count. But hey, you’re getting more football!”
The largely-Texas-based conference actually has 14 programs this season. In addition to the teams that normally run the roost out in the Big 12, Houston, Central Florida, Cincinnati and BYU have all been added to the mix, kind of like a bunch of 16-year-olds hitting the singles party at 9:35 p.m. on a Friday night.
But you know, this could just be a lot of fun.
Fox Sports’ R.J. Young has a nice preview of the conference, complete with video, right here (https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/big-12-football-preview-a-guide-to-the-2023-season) and remember: this is the last season of the Big 12 for both Texas and Oklahoma, who will fly the coop to the Southeastern Conference in 2024.
