True, running backs aren’t the commodity they once were, when Emmitt Smith, Rickey Watters and Ladanian Tomlinson were roaming the NFL’s stadiums as dual threats in the 1990s and early 2000s. But surely backs still have value. Right?

Right?

Or is the old “running-back-by-committee” mindset, where teams use two, or even three, backs on a regular basis now the norm?
