OK, so we know the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.
Who writes in Roman numerals, NFL? Come on! It’s 2024, man! Get with the program! It’s Super Bowl Freaking 58! Right, people? Am I right?
At any rate, the Niners represent the NFC and have tons of history, Joe Montana, five Super Bowls, and a sixth win today would tie them with the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers with six, the most ever. Their quarterback is Brock Purdy, who is very good but looks like he needs a hall pass to walk back to the locker room; running back Christian McCaffrey; a big defensive end that wears No. 97 named Nick Bosa; a short but tough fellow who catches the ball named Deebo Samuel; and a couple of not-so-nice guys that will want to smash Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend into oblivion – their names are Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw.
The Kansas City Chiefs are run by ya boy, Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback of now, the current “it” team, and let’s get down to important matters: Travis Kelce is Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend. He wears No. 87. He’s got a mustache and he’s really, really good. By the way, they’ve won four Super Bowls in franchise history – they had one back in the 1970s (without Mahomes, believe it or not – who knew?) – and Mahomes and the current group of Chiefs have already won two. They also lost a Super Bowl to Tampa Bay a few years back (SHHHHHHH).
So where’s it on, who’s doing the National Anthem and all that good stuff?
The game, which is being played in the starship-looking Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, airs on TV on CBS, and for some reason, Nickelodeon, and will stream on Paramount+ (that’s Paramount Plus, by the way), and can also be seen on any streaming service with a CBS or Nickelodeon subscription, such as YouTubeTV, or Hulu+Live TV.
Coverage of the game begins at 10:30 Central time (wow, that’s a long time). Country music Hall-of-Famer Reba McIntyre will sing the anthem around 5:20 p.m., and the game will kick off at 5:30.
R&B / pop star Usher has the honors of performing at halftime, although he has said he’ll have special guests – and didn’t say who they were, darn him. We should find out about 7 p.m.
