Well, it finally happened.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have dismissed offensive coordinator Matt Canada on Tuesday morning, even though they’re somehow 6-4 this season.

It’s expected that running backs coach Eddie Faulkner will take over for Canada, as the Steelers prepare for their game this Sunday at Cincinnati (5-5).

Multiple outlets, including TFB, are reporting the news: here’s just one (Steelers fire OC Matt Canada, team promotes running backs coach Eddie Faulkner to position).

Pittsburgh ranks 28th in the league in yards and 28th in points, as well.

The chant “Fire Canada” had picked up not only at Steelers games, but at games involving other Pittsburgh-area franchises, and became memes on social media, reminiscent of the old “Ray must go” chants involving Bill Parcells’ New York Giants replacement Ray Handley back in 1991-92.

ESPN noted that Canada’s dismissal is the first time Pittsburgh made a change of a head coach, or a coordinator, during a season since 1941.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett is 25th among starting quarterbacks in passing yards (1,722) and has just six touchdowns compared to four interceptions this season.
