The Blues (the team AND the music), the St. Louis Cardinals, the ribs, Chuck Berry, and now the first-ever United Football League Championship Game.

The UFL announced Thursday that the league’s inaugural championship game will be played in St. Louis (The UFL | St. Louis Selected to Host 2024 UFL Championship) on Sunday, June 16.

The league begins its season on March 30, has already been hailed as a game-changer by merging the XFL and USFL and connecting the coverage of both with multiple sports networks, and now comes this announcement, bringing the UFL title game to the heart of America.

“Selecting the championship game location is more than just the stadium, but the community and the fanbase that surrounds it. This is why we are proud to bring our Championship to St. Louis – a city that has loved and embraced spring football from the start,” said UFL President and CEO Russ Brandon, as a part of the story above. “Mayor (Tishaura O.) Jones, The Dome at America’s Center staff, and the great team at Explore St. Louis have all been incredible partners, working tirelessly to support the Battlehawks and encourage the League to bring the Championship here. We couldn’t be more excited and look forward to the city’s welcome on June 16.”

The UFL consists of St. Louis’ own Battlehawks, the Arlington Renegades, the Birmingham Stallions, the Memphis Showboats, the San Antonio Brahmas, the Houston Roughnecks, Michigan Panthers, and the D.C. Defenders (in Washington, D.C., of course).

St. Louis was the perfect choice, it seems, to be the host city for the first-ever championship game – it led the XFL in attendance last season and had nearly 40,000 for the home opener. In the story above, from the league’s website, it sites host-stadium The Dome at America’s Center with a seating capacity of 67,000 – and that it’s the former home of the vaunted NCAA Final Four.

Keep up with all things UFL right here on TFB, and we plan to have staff in attendance for UFL games all across the league map this spring – and even before that, beginning with media opportunities this weekend.
