The Tennessee Titans will have a different look this coming year, especially in the backfield, with no Derrick Henry.

But give them credit for knowing they need help in the secondary.

The Titans have completed a deal, it appears, that will land them cornerback L’Jarius Sneed from Kansas City, for a third-round pick in 2025 and a swap of picks in the seventh round in this year’s draft. It’s conditional, of course, because Sneed, 27, still has to pass the physical, and there’s the matter of a contract.

Sneed got the franchise tag from the Chiefs a few weeks ago.

More on the trade here, Titans finalizing deal with Chiefs to acquire cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, where longtime AP writer Teresa M. Walker correctly points out that the Titans were just about average in pass defense a year ago, 18th in the league and surrendering 227 yards a game.

Sneed will join another new Titans acquisition, corner Chidobe Awuzie, the former Cincinnati Bengal, who signed a three-year deal with Tennessee in the first week of free agency.

As for the contract, Jordan Schultz of the Bleacher Report has reported that Sneed’s deal is four years, and for $76 million — $55 million guaranteed.

Not that it really matters with that much money, but that would rank him as the seventh-highest-paid corner.

There is this, though. Tony Pauline of sportskeeda.com has reported that Sneed had a knee injury following the season (NFL insider notes: Curveball in L’Jarius Sneed negotiations, Justin Fields trade inches closer, TE prospect’s stock on the rise). That report hit prior to the news that the Titans were trading for Sneed, it should be noted.
