Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk wants to be traded from the San Francisco 49ers.

Unless he doesn’t.

Aiyuk, under contract for the upcoming season, is in contract negotiations with the team, who hope to get an extension done prior to training camp, if at all possible (although sometimes that doesn’t actually get said).

Aiyuk pulled the ‘I’ll unfollow you on social media’ tactic and did that over the weekend, unfollowing the Niners on Instagram last week.

And an NFL journalist named John Frascella has reported that Aiyuk has requested a trade.

Problem is, Aiyuk’s agent, Ryan Williams, is saying no one in Aiyuk’s camp has asked the Niners to trade him.

Frascella’s X / Twitter account posted the report about the trade request, and then Williams responded to it. “You need better sources,” Williams responded.

Aiyuk, drafted 25th overall by the 49ers in the 2020 selection session, had 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, averaged 83 yards receiving a game, and was targeted 105 times in the 49ers’ 2023 season, seventh among receivers in the year.
