Ahead of Monday night’s game at Las Vegas, the Green Bay Packers got some possibly-expected but nevertheless awful news.
Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari has been lost for the season. According to ESPN.com (Packers’ Bakhtiari needs another knee surgery, done for season ), the left tackle will need a fifth surgery on his left knee. The report by ESPN states that Dr. Brian Cole of Chicago will perform the surgery.
Green Bay put Bakhtiari on injured reserve last week. He did play in the season opener, a win over the Chicago Bears.
Bakhtiari, 32, said he hopes to return next season. He is under contract for the 2024 season.
“I could’ve been asymptomatic the entire time with that issue, and by addressing it we [might have] just added in a problem that didn’t need to be,” Bakhtiari said. “That’s why it’s like, let’s go ahead and try and see if this is a problem. If it’s not, then great, then we continue on, we dodged a bullet and life is good.
“But now knowing that it is [a problem] would’ve been nice. Hindsight’s 20/20.”
