Outkick editorial: too many commercials, distractions for Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (right) talks with "Jake From State Farm" in a commercial. The Chiefs lost at home to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day, dropping their overall record to 9-6. Kansas City is still likely to win the AFC West, but the Chiefs seem distracted, and Outkick.com writer Armando Salguero has nailed it in an editorial on outkick.com on Tuesday. The gauntlet has been thrown down.

Leave it to Outkick to do it.

And the rest of us are applauding.

Outkick.com, the site founded by Clay Travis and based on his radio show “Outkick The Coverage,” has an editorial up today written by Armando Salguero and it is fantastic. What did Armando write?

Well, he wrote about the Kansas City Chiefs offense.

And he wrote about the Chiefs and how they don’t like, HAVE offense (Too Much Taylor? Chiefs Play Like They’ve Been Concentrating More On Commercials And Pop Singers Than Football).

And he wrote about maybe a few reasons WHY they don’t have offense.

Now, are there any among us in the football world, particularly here at The Football Beat (sometimes abbreviated here TFB) that actually believe that Patrick Mahomes (whom we covered in high school, by the way) is thinking about filming commercials while he’s throwing a ball to tight end Travis Kelce? Or that Kelce, while he’s going across the middle to make a play, is thinking about what he and pop singer Taylor Swift have planned that night?

No, we’re not that foolish.

But does it seem like there are too many distractions around the Chiefs right now? Absolutely.

Are they the league’s current “it” team?

You better believe it.

Are they handling it well? It doesn’t appear that they are! They’re freaking 9-6!

Time will tell if the Chiefs rebound. Let’s see how they respond in the weeks to come.

But Salguero’s editorial is phenomenal in so many ways, and says what we’ve all wanted to say for weeks.
