There’s nothing quite like being that guy who gets into a scuffle at a kid’s event.
Now, when that guy is a former NFL Most Valuable Player… it’s a story.
That’s right: former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who led them to the Super Bowl as the NFL’s MVP in 2015, was involved in a physical altercation – ok, a fight – with others at the We Ball Sports X DynastyU 7v& Tournament at B.E.S.T. Academy in Atlanta, Georgia recently.
The video hit, well, just about everywhere in the last 24 hours, including right here at Thefootballbeat.com now (https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/sports/watch-video-shows-panthers-legend-cam-newton-in-fight-at-atlanta-football-tournament/vi-BB1iSMyH?ocid=socialshare).
The craziest thing is, Newton fights and keeps his hat on!
The fight is eventually broken up by a police officer.
Newton, a former No. 1 draft pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, last played in the league in 2021, and finished his career with over 32,000 passing yards, 194 touchdowns and ran for 75 touchdowns in tenures with both the Panthers and the New England Patriots.
He is from the Atlanta area. He should be commended for operating C1N (c1nsports.com), an organization founded to help youth through football-related activities on and off the field. The football portion, the on-the-field activities, of the group include seven-on-seven tournaments around the nation, and Newton’s group won the tournament at the location where the video was filmed.
