Is one of the NFL’s best receiving corps about to get even better?

It might, if an ESPN report from Sunday is true.

The Miami Dolphins have reached out to free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., both The Miami Herald and ESPN have reported (Mike McDaniel says Dolphins have offer out to Odell Beckham Jr. ).

McDaniel and the former Baltimore Raven – known throughout the football world and pop culture simply as “OBJ” – had a visit recently, and McDaniel liked what he heard.

“Things went great with him,” McDaniel said, in a Herald report. “We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him and has options. So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”

The Dolphins lost Cedric Wilson to the New Orleans Saints in free agency, but still have Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, obviously.

Beckham, the former New York Giant sensation largely due to a fantastic catch against the Dallas Cowboys (Odell Beckham Jr. Makes Catch of the Year! ) nine years ago and a brash off-the-field persona, is 31, but still is productive, even after a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left nee in the 2020 season, as a member of the Cleveland Browns.

He won a Super Bowl in the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Rams, but suffered another injury there and missed all of the 2022 season before signing with the Ravens last year.

His numbers in Baltimore were modest: 35 catches for 565 yards and three scores. But many in the franchise said Beckham was a catalyst in what was a great locker room, and the Ravens made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.
