A.J. McCarron, who won two national championships with the Alabama Crimson Tide in college, is coming back to the St. Louis Battlehawks just in time for the inaugural season of the UFL, the United Football League.
The league plays its games in spring, and is the combined league of the XFL and the USFL.
The Battlehawks were a part of the XFL, and McCarron, 33, started nine games for St. Louis last year, completing just under 70 percent of his passes and throwing 24 touchdowns. He played the 2023 NFL season with Cincinnati after starter Joe Burrow injured his wrist and had to miss a majority of the season.
The UFL will have a camp beginning Feb. 26, this coming week, in Arlington, and start a 10-week season on March 30. St. Louis opens on March 30 at the Michigan Panthers at Ford Field in Detroit.
