It’s not Batman and Robin, but Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was likely thrilled to be throwing passes to wide receiver Cooper Kupp at practice on Wednesday.
Kupp has missed the entire season so far, placed on injured reserve by the team because of a hamstring injury.
Stafford himself injured his ankle last weekend in a win at Indianapolis, but told the Los Angeles Times (Recovering Rams Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp appear healthy) that he’ll be in the line-up for Sunday’s home game against unbeaten Philadelphia (4-0).
“Adrenaline’s a hell of a thing,” said Stafford in the story. “When you’re running, big guys chasing after you, sometimes you run fast and forget about what’s ailing you.”
And the Times goes on to report in the story that there’s a chance Kupp could be activated in time to play the Eagles, mostly due to his performance in practice this week and how doctors assess his progress.
In Kupp’s absence, rookie receiver Pula Nacua of BYU helped the Rams beat the Colts last Sunday, and even got the game ball for his efforts. The Rams are 2-2 right now, and two games behind San Francisco in the NFC West. But with Kupp and Nacua on the same field – that’d be a dangerous thing for opponents.
So far this season, Nacua has 39 catches (already!) for 501 yards and a score in the four games.
