Here’s the question: are you more excited about the lead-in to college football season this week, hearing all the talk about the season getting closer, the previews for the games, as the SEC Media Days takes place in Dallas, for instance, or are you more excited that EA Sports’ College Football 25 is released Tuesday?

We know what the answer is to that question for Forbes.com writer Brian Mazique, who, even though it’s dated, has an excellent piece here (50 Things You Should Know About EA’s College Football 25 ) you just about every basic thing you’d need to know about the game – the price, the platforms it’s on; the platforms it’s not; who helped with player ratings (that’d be Pro Football Focus – pretty impressive); how many schools are in the game (134); and he even includes a trailer, for those of you who are massively behind and haven’t seen it yet.

And Mazique discusses things about the game that the average fan would be interested in, like what affect home field advantage has (in real life, much greater in the college game than in the NFL, and Mazique agrees that’s the case in the game: “EA has taken steps toward making College Football 25 feel like a gridiron contest played by young adults in hostile environments,” he writes. “The impact of playing on the road in historic venues is felt more profound than in Madden, and the effects are more harsh on younger players like freshmen and sophomores.”).

He discusses what’s for sure included in the game, the first edition in over a decade (larger gaps between the very good players and the not-as good ones; pre-snap recognitions; weather impacting games; the transfer portal; a new kicking system) and what’s not (the Heisman Challenge; the ability to edit every aspect of the roster; the ability to export draft classes into Madden games).

If you like this piece by Mazique, you’ll probably want to read this, 10 Things I Can’t Wait To Do In EA College Football 25. That’s another piece by him, also on the site, and goes into vastly more detail.

Now, have we gotten you ready to be a kid again on Tuesday?
