ARLINGTON – I’m here, and so is Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
But he’s not going to be playing.
Harrison Jr. made the trip here to AT&T Stadium for the 88th annual Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, with his Ohio State teammates, as they get ready to take on Missouri. But the No. 7 Buckeyes (11-1) won’t have Harrison’s services, presumably as he’ll hold out in preparation for the NFL Draft (Marvin Harrison Jr. not playing in Cotton Bowl for Ohio State vs Missouri).
Ohio State also won’t have the quarterback that helped the team win 11 games, Kyle McCord, who transferred to Syracuse just a couple of weeks ago.
Missouri (10-2) will look to reverse a trend: the Tigers have lost their last four bowl games, and are 1-10-1 against Ohio State, all time.
The Buckeyes themselves might look to reverse a trend: Ohio State is 4-4 in its last eight bowl games.
Harrison Jr. has not declared for the draft, by the way. He had 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns this year, and 2,613 yards and 31 touchdowns on 155 in his Ohio State career.
The unanimous Associated Press All-American, the Biletnikoff Award-winner (the award for the best receiver in college football, named after Fred Biletnikoff), was a Heisman Trophy finalist and is the son of former Indianapolis Colts receiver Marvin Harrison.
