He’s BAAAAA-AAACCCCK.
And no, we’re not talking about Jaws, Freddy, or Jason.
We’re talking about Jim Harbaugh, of course!
The University of Michigan head football coach returns to the sidelines for game four of this season, after missing the first three due to a university-mandated suspension for violation of NCAA rules. The three games he’s missed: East Carolina, UNLV, and Bowling Green.
Well, we just report the news.
And so does Associated Press sportswriter Dave Hogg, who has a solid preview of the game here (Harbaugh returns to sidelines to lead No. 2 Michigan against Rutgers).
At any rate, Harbaugh, king of the khakis, is back, and roaming the sidelines for his 100th game as head coach of the Wolverines, who are 3-0 (of course they are), and come off a 31-6 win over BG.
There’ll be 100,000-plus in maize and blue screaming for Rutgers to get the ‘h’ out of the Big House on Saturday and don’t let the door hit them on the way out.
But here’s the surprise: Rutgers. Like, what they’ve done, guys.
Don’t look now, but Greg Schiano, in his second stint as head coach of the Scarlet Knights, has them playing like they did at the end of his first tenure, before he left for the NFL.
Rutgers is 3-0, with wins over Northwestern, Temple and Virginia Tech. I know, I know – that’s not Oregon, Alabama and Georgia. But Rutgers is undefeated. Through three weeks!
By the way, Rutgers hasn’t beaten Michigan since 2014 (I’m surprised they’ve beaten them at all, honestly – please, make your e-mails kind, and just go ahead and send them to my boss, Mitch Lucas; he gets about three or four hundred about me every week).
Michigan has only lost to Rutgers that one time, ever. They’re 8-1 in the series.
