Joel Klatt’s poll rarely makes news.
Today, it is, simply because of what he did with the defending national champion Georgia, the current number one team in both the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches polls.
In Klatt’s poll (2023 college football top 10 rankings: Joel Klatt’s top 10 teams after Week 8), in which he only lists the top 10, he’s dropped the Bulldogs all the way down to No. 4.
And Klatt lists his reason why. As you might guess, it does have to do with the injury to all-everything tight end Brock Bowers.
“I moved Georgia down to No. 4 in my rankings, which mostly has to do with the fact that the Bulldogs’ best player, Brock Bowers, is not going to be available for the foreseeable future,” Klatt wrote, on FOXSports.com. “Without Bowers, I just don’t think that this Georgia team is nearly as good or nearly as dynamic as some of the other teams at the top of my rankings.”
We won’t include his comments for the rest of the poll, and let you guys enjoy it – for those comments, give Klatt a hit on the Fox Sports website above.
But there’s this: the top two teams in the poll are Michigan and Ohio State, meaning someone is falling in Ann Arbor on November 25.
By the way, not insinuating that Klatt is trying to create a top-two matchup for his broadcast, but s year’s Michigan-Ohio State game? It airs on Fox, on the “Big Noon Kickoff” game at noon Eastern, 11 Central – you know, the game Klatt is the color analyst for each week, with play-by-play man Gus Johnson.
Here’s Klatt’s latest poll.
