Fox Sports’ Young: Milroe, Tide are for real

Don’t tell Fox Sports columnist R.J. Young Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe can’t play.

He doesn’t want to hear it.

Young’s column on FoxSports.com on Monday (College football rankings: Alabama is for real, and so is improving QB Jalen Milroe) correctly points out that Milroe and the Crimson Tide have done nothing but improve since Alabama’s loss to Texas and that awful showing at South Florida – in which Milroe did not play.

And so what if there’s no style points there? So WHAT if it looks like a Mack Truck driving through a yard sale, or a bull in a china shop? There’s definitely a certain – well, ugliness to it.

But it’s working. The Tide is winning.

Milroe rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns, a school record in a single game, and threw for 219 yards in Alabama’s 42-28 win over LSU last weekend at home.

If Alabama beats Kentucky, it will clinch the SEC West Division and a berth in the SEC Championship Game. And with the way Georgia has been playing, and the Alabama-Georgia history, don’t write Alabama off from a College Football Playoff appearance.
