Everybody knows it’s March Madness time, when even people who have no clue what “bluebloods” and “diaper dandies” are in reference to college basketball have all filled out brackets and will be checking their phones for scores on Thursday, hoping they’re not one of many who have busted.

But what would a 64-team FOOTBALL tournament look like?

ESPN has put one together (Crowning a champion in college football’s 2024 64-team playoff), and while we are absolutely not going to spoil the outcome of the article – it’s very good, written by Chris Low and you should read it – we will tell you that, as Low points out, in their Sweet 16, 11 of them are either SEC or Big Ten.

By the way, this is focusing on the upcoming season, not the 2023 season. So there will be no Harbaugh, no Saban, no Caleb Williams encore at Southern Cal. This hypothetical scenario is based on the 2024 campaign.

And they actually seed the teams. We’ll spoil this. The number one seed in the South Regional is Georgia; the Texas Longhorns are the No. 1 seed in the East; Ohio State (shock of ALL shocks) is the top seed in the Midwest Regional; and the Oregon Ducks sit atop the West Region.
