The best revenge is served… nine months later?

No, that would be gotcha pregnancies.

The best revenge in pro football is served A YEAR later, as in the next SUPER BOWL later.

The Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t do that to the Kansas City Chiefs. But they could beat them at home on “ABC’s Monday Night Football” Monday night, and they did it, dealing Patrick Mahomes and fellow commercial-king Travis Kelce and the boys a 21-17 loss, their third of the year and second at home (Jalen Hurts leads second-half rally as Eagles beat Chiefs 21-17).

Philadelphia would still have been tied with the best record in the NFC with a loss, but they own it by themselves with a win (9-1), and they’ll host the somewhat-desperate, already-with-five-losses Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The Chiefs aren’t really desperate, but they are probably – we’ll say ticked off, and dropped to 7-3 with the loss. They’ll visit 5-6 Las Vegas this Sunday.

It was an old-school final score (21-17) in a bit of an old-school game that had an old-school feeling: big NFL linemen pushing each other around in a rainy setting, with Mahomes, Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts and all the skill players doing their thing.

For just a little while after halftime, when the Chiefs led by 10 points, it felt like Kansas City was going to run away with it. But turnovers, including a Mahomes pick in the end zone, and penalties hurt the Chiefs, while the Eagles kept chipping away.

“It’s the resiliency and togetherness that really stood out to me tonight,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said, “and I can’t say enough about the defense. I can’t say enough about the job our defense and our defensive staff did.”
