Deebo returns for 49ers on Sunday at Jags; LT Trent Williams nowhere near as certain

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who was injured in the team’s game at Cleveland four weeks ago (counting the bye), should be back in the line-up when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday (49ers WR Deebo Samuel to return; Trent Williams ‘real questionable’).

Samuel was diagnosed in the Cleveland game with a hairline fracture in his shoulder, and missed the rest of what turned into a loss to the Browns, a loss the following week at Minnesota, and a home loss to Cincinnati. The Niners were off last week – as were the Jaguars, who have won six straight.

One person who may not play in the game is Samuel’s teammate, left tackle Trent Williams, who injured his right ankle in that Cleveland game. Williams returned to practice this week, reports have said, but he’s still listed as questionable for this week’s trip to Jacksonville.

If Williams can’t lay, Jaylon Moore will play left tackle in his place.

It’ll be a bad blow to the Niners if Williams can’t go, to be sure, but running back Christian McCaffrey said having Samuel back in the game will be a huge lift.

“I think he complements everybody,” McCaffrey said. “Just having him on the field, he’s such a threat whenever he has the ball. He makes a play that looks like it’s not going to work go. Just having that confidence that he’s out there means a lot to all of us.”
