Colorado’s Travis Hunter could return Friday vs. Stanford

The Colorado Buffaloes have really missed defensive back / wide receiver Travis Hunter.

Let’s emphasize that they’ve REALLY, REALLY missed him.

Hunter, who was injured (a lacerated liver, ewwww) during Colorado’s win over Colorado State on Sept. 16, has been out since, missing games at Oregon, at home against Southern Cal and at Arizona State, with the team going 1-2 in those games (overwhelmed in a loss at Oregon, a near-comeback win at home over USC, and then a road win at ASU last weekend).

But Colorado coach Deion Sanders, whom you might have heard of, said Tuesday that the Suwanee, Ga., native is a possibility for Friday night’s home game against Stanford (Deion Sanders: Travis Hunter Could Return From Injury for Colorado vs. Stanford).

“There’s a tremendous chance he could play,” Sanders said. “It goes by how he looks, how he performs in practice, how his wind is. He has to be in shape. I don’t want him to be a liability. I always want him to be a tremendous asset.

“Travis, he came to me yesterday morning and said, ‘What more can I do to help us get to the point that we need to get to?’ I love the team aspect of Travis 100 percent, but I hope he can play.”

Hunter has nine solo tackles, an interception and two passes defended on defense this season, much of that in the Buffs’ 45-42 road upset of TCU to open the season. On offense, Hunter has 16 catches for 213 yards.
