Ja’Marr Chase seems to be ashamed of the Cincinnati Bengals’ performance in the team’s week one loss at Cleveland.

Boy, he’d better be. It was definitely ugly.

Chase, the Bengals’ receiver and prime target for quarterback Joe Burrow, was candid in this story by Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer (Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase sets tone before Ravens game).

The contest was a knockout, Clubber Lang-style, a 24-3 knockout in favor of the Cleveland Browns.

Burrow was held to 82 yards passing, a career low, in the game, and Chase had just five catches for 39 yards. Needless to say, it won’t be one they’ll mention as a career highlight, either of them.

But Chase is probably looking forward to this Sunday’s noon kickoff against his “old friends,” the Baltimore Ravens. In his five games against the Ravens, according to Conway’s story, Chase has 39 catches for 546 yards and three touchdowns.

Still, Chase told Conway he knows it won’t be sunshine and rainbows facing the purple and black defense.

“They play the fast and physical,” Chase said. “That’s the thing about the Baltimore Ravens, that’s what they’re known (for) and it’s just on us to make the first guy miss and get the first down. That’s our job as receivers and just make a play.”
