Apparently, Alabama, love them or hate them, lives in the heads of every single college football fan.
Especially right now, fans of South Carolina and Miami.
The latest College Football Playoff rankings were released live on ESPN earlier tonight, and the Crimson Tide – a team with three losses but with four wins over top-25 teams – were No. 11 in the rankings.
The top four – Oregon, Texas, Penn State and Notre Dame – remained unchanged.
But Alabama’s position seems to grind the gears of thousands of people on social media.
We at TFB sort of think Miami might have a point: they do have 10 wins, but over absolutely no one consequential.
But South Carolina?
Come on.
Six straight wins, hooray. Defeated Clemson, fantastic.
But Gamecocks, you LOST to Alabama. Also lost to Ole Miss. Not sure what your argument is.
These are the penultimate (next-to-last) rankings, complete below with all kinds of information you’ll want to see.
The various championship games across the college football are this weekend. Then the final rankings will be announced on Sunday.
Who will be in the top four and get the first-round byes? Who will host the first-round games (teams ranked five through eight)?
We’ll know on Sunday. Expect there to be outrage, no matter what.
