They weren’t exactly facing their toughest opponent ever, and there was no Justin Herbert, but the Buffalo Bills did hold off the Los Angeles Chargers professional football team and win yet again, this time 24-22, on Saturday (Tyler Bass boots late FG as Bills rally past Chargers).

Buffalo went in front with 28 seconds left on a kick by Tyler Bass from 29 yards out, allowing the Bills to move to 9-6 on the year and more importantly, get a little closer to a playoff berth. It was Buffalo’s third straight win.

The Chargers, of course, dropped to 5-10, had already fired coach Brandon Staley and didn’t have quarterback Justin Herbert, who had season-ending surgery on his right (throwing-hand) index finger a couple of weeks ago.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen helped account for three touchdowns: he went 15-of-21 for 237 yards, two touchdowns and one interception (including four passes for 130 yards and a touchdown to Gabe Davis) and ran for a TD in the game.

For the Chargers, Easton Stick went 23-of-33 for 215 yards, and kicker Cameron Dicker hit five field goals. The Chargers were also without injured receiver Keenan Allen, who is out with an injured heel.

Next Sunday, Buffalo hosts New England, and the Chargers visit Denver.
