The Buffalo Bills’ sloppy 24-22 loss on ABC’s “Monday Night Football” proved costly to at least one person: offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.
Or should we say, former offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.
The Bills, per ESPN (Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey fired, sources say – ESPN), fired Dorsey on Tuesday, and named Joe Brady as interim replacement.
Brady, if the name rings a bell, is probably most famous for his success in college, guiding Joe Burrow’s improvement in 2019 at LSU, as the Tigers had an unbeaten season and won the College Football Playoff national championship.
He was the offensive coordinator the following season for the Carolina Panthers, but was dismissed in 2021.
Back to Dorsey. The former University of Miami quarterback was elevated to offensive coordinator last season after the departure of Brian Daboll, who was named head coach of the New York Giants. Dorsey had been the Bills’ quarterback coach.
But the Bills are 5-5, and quarterback Josh Allen is leading the league in turnovers this season (11 interceptions, four fumbles).
The Bills have kind of a rocky road ahead. As mentioned in our Monday night recap story last night, they host the New York Jets on Sunday, go to Philadelphia on Nov. 26, and then play at Kansas City Dec. 10. Wow – both of last year’s Super Bowl participants in back-to-back weeks.
“I’m confident, but I believe we can be better at the same time,” coach Sean McDermott said after the loss to Denver.
