‘Bama’s Williams, Buckeyes’ Smith featured on cover of EA Sports game (w/video)

A pair of the nation’s best receivers – maybe THE two best receivers – are front and center for the hottest college football video game, about to hit the market again this summer.

EA Sports College Football 26 will be released in all formats next month, and featured prominently on the cover are Alabama’s Ryan Williams and Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith.

The two dynamic receivers, obviously at two of the nation’s most tradition-rich powers, join a host of players – Florida quarterback D.J. Lagway, Notre Dame running back Jeremiah Love, Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, former USC running back Reggie Bush and also Georgia coach Kirby Smart, Ohio State coach Ryan Day, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman, and former Florida QB and Heisman winner turned TV personality Tim Tebow, among others.

Williams and Smith figure to have big roles in their teams’ respective national title hopes, too. The Buckeyes will try to defend that 2024 national title, and last year, Smith had 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, and also had a rush TD.

Williams had a bit of a scaled-back season in coach Kalen DeBoer’s first year in Tuscaloosa, with 48 catches for 865 yards and four touchdowns, to go with two rush TDs. But many are expecting ‘Bama to be back in a big way in 2025, after a second offseason under DeBoer’s system.

We’ll all know more in a few weeks. Ohio State opens the season at home Aug. 30 against, ironically, its Cotton Bowl opponent, Texas, and Alabama opens that same day on the road at Florida State.

Oh, and by the way: EA Sports College Football 26 is set to release on July 10 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
