Jason Kelce is seen by NFL fans as a lot of things: by some (Philadelphia fans) likely as the best center, or best former center, in recent league history. By some (Dallas, New York Giants, Washington fans), as an antagonist, a loudmouthed jerk, a loathsome villain.
And by some, just a fun-loving guy that used to play football who’s ready to lend his knowledge to the fans.
The latter is how ESPN is hoping most NFL fans will see Kelce, maybe (?) the more likeable of the Kelce brothers, especially now that he’s retired. But Kelce, now that he’s joining the ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” crew, will do his best to be objective (Jason Kelce Vows objectivity when Cowboys are on ‘MNF’).
Can he do it?
Give Kelce credit for being forthcoming, honest.
“Oh, I have no bias,” Kelce said, recently. “I just don’t like them. But I’m gonna give them their props. There’s a rivalry, but the reality is, even though I hate the Cowboys fanbase… I was at a charity golf outing, and there was a kid, and he was like, ‘Hey, I’m a Cowboys fan.’ I was like, ‘Oh, are you from Dallas?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m from Philadelphia.’ Are you a Lakers and a Yankees fan, too? Like, what are we doing? We’re just picking whatever team we want? That’s where we’re at?”
