EA Sports College Football Deluxe Edition cover drops

Is it really back?

No, not Texas.

The EA Sports College Football Game!

It really IS back! (EA Sports College Football video game is back)

After lawsuits, the whole NIL thing, agreements signed and the whole nine yards – that’s felt more like 99 yards – the game that so many football fans have missed for so long looks to be back in a new incarnation.

The game hasn’t been produced since 2013, and that version has been traded across, well, everywhere, for 11 years. But since three years ago, when EA Sports announced the game would return, the excitement has been building. Would game play be as fun as it was? Would things be anything near the same?

It might be better.

Because this time, instead of numbers – the names and likenesses (courtesy of the new NIL thing) will be the real thing.

That’s possible because the company has given, according to the Associated Press, at the link above, players at least $600 each and a copy of the game to actually appear in it, and over 10,000 have agreed, according to this AP report (EA Sports announces over 10,000 athletes have accepted NIL deal for its college football video game).

The game will be released this summer.
