Comings and goings in the National Football League are a way of life in March and April – lives changing, and sadly, sometimes, careers ending as the annual draft approaches.
New careers are about to begin.
That doesn’t mean the path is always over. Sometimes it’s just a new path.
There’s Kirk Cousins, for instance, in Atlanta, and Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh.
But there’s a lot going on other than just Wilson, or Cousins, a lot that doesn’t involve quarterbacks. And here are a few of those transactions.
- It looks like the Green Bay Packers and longtime offensive line anchor David Bakhtiari have finally parted ways (David Bakhtiari done in Green Bay after 11 seasons)
- Ditto for the San Francisco 49ers and one of their defensive line stalwarts, Arik Armstead, after he was reportedly asked by the franchise to take a pay cut (Report: 49ers to release DT Arik Armstead).
- Bryce Huff relocates from the New York Jets to the Philadelphia Eagles (Sources – Eagles, Bryce Huff reach 3-year, $51.1M contract).
- The Jacksonville Jaguars are giving Trevor Lawrence another weapon in wide receiver Gabe Davis (Source: Jaguars to sign WR Gabe Davis to 3-year, $39M deal).
- Running back Tony Pollard is done in Dallas, and signing with the Tennessee Titans (Source: Titans giving ex-Cowboys RB Tony Pollard 3-year deal), which means Derrick Henry is likely as done as most everyone thought in Nashville.
Could that mean, ironically, Dallas?
- The L.A. Rams re-signed guard Kevin Dotson last week, and have added a big free-agent prize in former Detroit guard Jonah Jackson (Source: Rams to sign guard Jonah Jackson to $51M deal). What is it with the Rams and former Lions? Maybe it’ll work out as well for ‘em.
- Dion Dawkins has signed an extension with Buffalo (Bills, Dion Dawkins reach 3-year contract extension).
