Apparently, enough was enough for Lincoln Riley and the Southern Cal administration for defensive coordinator Alex Grinch.
The Trojans have dismissed Grinch after the latest debacle on Saturday night, a 52-42 loss to No. 5 Washington (USC fires defensive coordinator Alex Grinch.)
USC was giving up almost 35 points a game and ranked 107th against the pass, 120th against the run. The Trojans had a 31-7 lead at Colorado, and had to survive a furious Buffaloes comeback that saw them tie the game and Caleb Williams and the offense rescue them for the win.
According to reports, inside linebackers coach Brian Odom and defensive line coach Shaun Nua will serve as co-defensive coordinators for the rest of the season. USC started the season 6-0, but has fallen to 7-3, including a blowout loss at Notre Dame, and two losses in the conference.
They’re now unranked in the Associated Press top 25.
Grinch came with head coach Riley from Oklahoma, where he was also maligned there for his bend-but-sometimes break defensive style.
