Remember when the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos was a pretty big rivalry?
We do. But it’s hard to believe anyone involved with either franchise does.
Kansas City (4-1 so far this season) hosts Denver (1-4) on Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” tonight, and the Chiefs have dominated the series in the last few years. That’s a Captain Obvious-like statement. The Chiefs have won 15 straight.

And the Chiefs are looking good going into the game, winners of four straight. The Broncos? Not so much, after losing to the New York Jets at home last week, and quarterback Russell Wilson fumbled the game away, to boot – literally, dropping a fumble that scooped up and returned for a touchdown by the Jets’ Bryce Hall.
It gets worse for the Broncos: they also have the NFL’s statistically-worst defense.
KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes maintained he didn’t care about streaks, numbers or anything else, other than winning Thursday night.
“When you play a team like the Broncos, same as any division opponent, there’s another level of intensity,” Mahomes said. “I’m not worried about a streak or anything like that. I’m worried about winning against a division opponent.”
Mahomes, by the way, is 11-0 against Denver.
As in: Has. Never. Lost. To. Them.
Don’t tell Wilson about the streak; he’s optimistic. The Broncos do have a 70-20 loss in among those four losses (to Miami), but credit Wilson for taking the high road before the trip to Kansas City.
“We really should and could be 4-1,” Wilson said, “but ‘coulda, shoulda, woulda’ is not good enough.”
