Niners trade for rumored cut-victim Randy Gregory

Did the San Francisco 49ers really need pass-rushing help?

According to ESPN.com, the 49ers got it on Friday, trading a seventh-round pick to Denver for Randy Gregory (Broncos trading Randy Gregory to 49ers, sources say).

Is it a coincidence that the 49ers made the trade for the 30-year-old former Dallas Cowboy on the week that they host Dallas on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football?”

The addition of Gregory to a defensive line that already boasted the great Nick Bosa, along with Javon Hargrave (the former Philadelphia Eagle who signed with the Niners during free agency) and Arik Armstead.

In his nine-year career, Gregory, who has had suspensions due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Has 19.5 sacks and 81 quarterback hurries.
