It seems like for the bulk of the year, the Aaron Rodgers-Packers-Jets drama played out, with no one knowing for sure what would win out: Rodgers back in Green Bay, Rodgers in New York, or Rodgers in retirement.

We know now, it’ll be Rodgers in the Big Apple. And Monday night, he’ll be on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” taking on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in an AFC East Division game, a big game that could set the tone for the rest of the season.

Rodgers sat down with Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews for this interview ( Jets QB Aaron Rodgers talks with Erin Andrews about new beginnings | FOX Sports), and got a few things off his chest. Anything new? Maybe not.

“I built up a reputation for a while, and a lot of people tried to jump on top of me,” Rodgers said. “Didn’t work, couldn’t keep me down, and I’m thankful that people get to see me. This isn’t like a brand-new me. I wasn’t f—ing acting for a TV show. I was just being who I always am. It was the first time in my 19 years somebody’s captured it in that way.

“I’ve always believed as a leader if you want to be liked first and respected second, you’ll get neither. If you want to be respected first and hopefully liked, you’re gonna get that respect.”

The Bills have been the kings of the East for a while now, but with Rodgers running the Jets’ offense and coach Robert Saleh running the defense – could that be the combination to knock Allen and company off the throne?

We’ll get the first set of answers on Monday night.
