Jacksonville “feels” like one of those franchises ready to take the next step, with a quarterback in Trevor Lawrence that’s improving each game, a head coach in Doug Pederson that has already won a Super Bowl, an addition of a top wide receiver in Calvin Ridley in free agency, and many more pieces.

The Indianapolis Colts are an AFC South division rival with a dangerous new piece to their puzzle, an exciting rookie quarterback in Anthony Richardson that got his first-ever start in the NFL on Sunday at home at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Shake it up, and the fans were treated to a pretty solid football game, one that the Jaguars escaped with a 31-21 win. Here’s the story, written by Associated Press writer Michael Marot: Colts’ Richardson laments 31-21 loss to Jags despite solid start in his NFL debut (msn.com).

For his part, Richardson wasn’t happy with the outcome, obviously, or his own play.

“We didn’t win, so I didn’t do good enough,” Richardson told the media afterward. “But first game, first experience, felt good just being out there with my teammates. The energy was good. We’ve just got to clean some things up, including myself.”

Richardson went 24-of-37 for 223 yards, a touchdown pass, and had 40 yards rushing and a rushing TD. But he got sacked four times by the Jags’ defense and also threw an interception to Tyson Campbell with about five minutes left, when the Colts were trailing 24-20, attempting to make a comeback.
