Two big-name Texas college football programs had road challenges on Saturday.

The one that played in South Beach couldn’t escape.

Texas A&M is talent-laden, and has a new offensive coordinator in Bobby Petrino, but it was the defense that seemed to be the problem on Saturday, as they could not stop Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke and the Hurricanes.

The recap by the Associated Press is here (Tyler Van Dykes throws 5 TD passes in Miami’s statement 48-33 win over No. 23 Texas A&M (msn.com), as the ‘Canes took out A&M in A&M’s first road game of the year, 48-33.

Van Dyke threw for five touchdowns and 374 yards, outshining an otherwise-good performance by Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman, who went 31-of-53 for 336 yards.

Miami wound up winning both games of the home-and-home series: they beat A&M at College Station a year ago.

A&M (1-1) will host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, and Miami has a short turnaround: they’ll host Bethune-Cookman on Thursday.
